Pickup Frequently Asked Questions
What are your hours of service?
Customer service is open from 7:00AM to 4:30PM, EST. Delivery dock hours are from 7:00AM to 2:00PM.
Why does NorCon need a 4 hour window to pick up your freight?
This window allows for delays caused by traffic accidents, bad weather, etc.
What is the latest time I can fax a pick up or delivery?
We must receive your pickup request by 3:00PM, EST to process a pickup and return it to you by 4:00PM, EST.
Why does NorCon want to know cubic feet?
The cubic feet tells us how much space your freight will take in our truck.
How do you calculate the cubic feet?
Length X Width X Height. Take that number and multiply it by the number of cartons you will be shipping. Divide that number by 1728 (one cubic foot= 12X12X12= 1728)
How long should I wait before calling NorCon to make sure the customer service department has received my fax?
Please wait 30 minutes.
What if my freight is not completed by the ready time?
If you are not ready please call as soon as possible. If we can reschedule for later in the day we will. If not, you may have to reschedule the next day. If the driver arrives at your facility and the freight is not ready we may charge you a waiting fee or a second pick up fee when we return. Be aware of your cancellation dates. You may have to get extensions.
The NorCon driver was here for 30 minutes and then he left because the freight was not ready. Is he going to come back?
Our carriers have hundreds of pick ups per day. The drivers will do their best to return, but we cannot guarantee they will. Be aware of cancel dates. If freight is not going to be ready, you may need to get extensions.
Why is it important to mark my freight PREPAID or COLLECT?
All Nordstrom freight is collect through NorCon. If you ship your freight prepaid, NorCon will not accept corrections after freight has been delivered and processed through our facility.
Can we palletize freight?
Yes. However, all pallets must be maximized, and you must allow driver to sign for the number of pallets said to contain.
